Migrating for Migration – The Ending
Four months had passed. There was no time to go to Dombivli due to exams. The exams got over and there I started the process of calling the college to confirm if the principal is available for the day.
The phone bell rang but it died as I awaited somebody to pick up the phone at the other end. After trying it for several days I tried contacting my Dombivli friends to confirm if the phone is dead or the number has changed but in vain.
I could only try my luck this time. I left for Dombivli and anxiously confirmed the availability of the principal. There was a positive reply. I just had to get a signature on the photocopy of the leaving certificate.
I had to wait for about an hour but finally got the signature and with a smile left the college.
Next Tuesday I left for the university to submit the photocopy of LC and they handover to me my migration certificate. I had tears in my eyes as I took the certificate in my hand. These were “Khushi ke Aansu” after the tragic climax of “Migrating for migration” and “Still Migrating for Migration”.
Migration finally had a happy ending.

Rockin Party…
To express the Murud-Janjira (MJ) trip within few lines is a monumental task because each and every moment was eventful.

To start with, lets me describe the beauty which India holds when you move to the interiors. Having lived my life completely in the big city, I personally had very few chances of moving around the countryside. The beaches leading to MJ were amazing. Once you see those shores, you will feel the presence of some greater force. Living on the beach is a way of life; maybe person like me may never even fully understand it. You may never have the utilities around you which you get used to in the city but then you may never need them here.
When we boarded the bus in Mumbai – I could see each one, including myself, transform into an unknown kid. Unknown word is important here because many of us discovered each other, friends, and buddies in the end of the road. Words like NMIMS, studies, work, etc were hardly uttered. This was the “other side” of the men and women whom you meet from 7 to 9 everyday.
Imagine Rakesh running behind an auto-rickshaw on the streets of Mulund when he forgets his bag inside, Anil getting a second rickshaw & chasing Rakesh and Jaswinnder being the advisory board. This was a typical “Hera Pheri” type scene.
Imagine Anu Malik spirit inside Ozzy’s body, only to find that everything he does for the rest of the evening has an Anu effect.
Events like these followed us for whole two days
After an interesting evening which included a beach party, we headed towards our final destination. Fort Janjira is the reason why MJ exist today. This is the only fort along the western region which was unconquered until it gave in voluntarily after 1947 independence. With these facts we entered the only gate available; the design of the fort interested me immediately.
The fort was built on a 22 acre land and took 22 years to build. Like the number of days in a year the fort walls had 365 windows. There was only one way to enter and exit. There is a tunnel from inside the fort leading to the nearby Rajapuri village. The mouth of the tunnel is the size of a window, completely camouflaged within the houses of the living families. There are ruins of a palace and a mosque which are flawlessly shielded by a hill from the attacking enemy ships. The walls of the fort were divided into two sections, one facing the land and second facing the sea water. The section which was facing the water had a unique design from that facing the land “I was not able to decipher the purpose of this design”. The fort still holds one of the biggest cannon available during that era. To the naked eye, this looks like a normal cannon but the near-by tourist guide told me that this cannon never over heats even if you use it for days. It was made of a metal which remain cold even in the hottest day, I did touch the canon to check the facts. The canon was dead cold. (More Info)
I don’t think there was even a single dull moment during the whole trip. It was a trip where acquaintance became friendship …

Migrating for Migration…
The day had finally come when I had to submit the migration certificate in the college (Migration certificate is required when you change university for further studies). Some of my friends in college had already obtained the certificate after running from pillar to post. And I had taken a vow that I would keep no loopholes in my process of obtaining the certificate so that I need not repeat any of the activity.
I started collecting information by calling each one of my friends and personally asked about the procedure to obtain the certificate. This certificate needs to be submitted in the present college or else admission is cancelled or results are with held. All data required to obtain a certificate was now embedded in my mind. I photocopied all my original mark sheet and leaving certificate from the last attended college and packed my bag with all the documents.
Since my college was no where near, my mother packed water bottle and some snacks for my long journey (Kandivli to Dombivli) as if I am going for a one day trip. I took an extension ticket from the station and started heading towards the platform to board a train.
The heat was taking the sweat out of me this winter. Now I could probably take a lecture on global warming.
I had my headphones on and was little excited to reach college after 3 long years. I was confident enough with all the document nicely set in my bag.
The only thing I had to do was to take my principal’s signature from the college on the form which needs to be submitted to the Mumbai University with proper authentication of the mark sheets and leaving certificates.
The challenging part for me was to reach college before lunch time and get the signature or else wait for an hour. Traveling is what I don’t get fed up off so easily and was enjoying the central local train breeze.
On reaching Dombivli I had to take a rickshaw to reach college which is far off again from the station. Finally got down near college and started walking towards it. There was a complete change of structure on the barren land surrounding the college and as a rule I started taking photo sessions. There was a huge construction coming up near the college and a lot of visible changes in the campus could be noticed. But the staff was the same with no knowledge of migration certificate. It took me 10 minutes to explain why it is required and what the college has to do.
After all the explanation round, I was told bluntly to come on Tuesday as the principal was on leave and I started using my return journey ticket to Kandivli not enjoying the journey this time.
Migration to be continued…

How to obtain Migration Certificate?
The procedure is as follows:
Day 0. Fill out the migration form. Leave the Principal’s section as it is.
Day 0. Have foto-copies of the following documents ready: –
10th Marksheet + Passing certificate
12th Markheet + Passing certificate
All Semester marksheets
Degree marksheet
Degree certificate
Take everything since you don’t want to hear names of uncarried documents in college.
Day 1. Approach your college from where you graduated.
Day 1. Submit your application to the concerned person. He/she will take necessary fees as prescribed by our esteemed university. Ideally you will be asked to come and collect the completed migration form in 4 days.
Day 5. Collect the migration form along with a Transference Certificate from your college and head straight to Ambedkar Bhavan in Kalina University . This building is the farthest in the campus and I advise you to take a rick upto this building.
Day 5. Submit the form in the Migration Form submission area. It is outside but attached to the building. Ask for it from the peon sitting outside the building if you are unable to locate this place.
Day 5. Pay Rs. 220, submit the form and collect a receipt. (You don’t need to pay any under-table amount here). Ideally you will be called after 4 days again.
Day 9. Collect the migration certificate. Don’t be surprised if it does not look like one.
Day 10. Submit the form to the admission dept at NMIMS. I think the timings for us are from 4 to 7.
Day 10. Come for the lecture and thank me.
The university referred here is Mumbai University . Please do not go to Kalina campus if you are not from Mumbai University . You will have to go to your own university wherever it is located.
I am sorry I am late in posting this. But it can still be helpful for you; and for others, who have already started the process, give a print out of this to your kids.

Inaugural Post
Welcome you all to the world of NMIMS PTMBA Systems blog. This idea has been initiated by PA and pushed forward by me and thanks all you people for joining the line by contributing.
One question that would come in minds of many is why such a name has been thought off as the URL i.e. “nmimscomingsoon”. The meaning behind such a name is very simple. “Coming soon” indicates that future managers of NMIMS are ‘coming soon’ after 3 years. It would be a motivating factor for all of us when we start writing down the URL in the address bar of the browser in an attempt to read the blog. So each time one types the url or just clicks the URL he/she is actually writing or clicking about himself/herself.
Now that we all are motivated lets start contributing to this blog so that we keep this alive. Let’s rock this world by our blog which is not a one man show. Your contribution on anything like articles related to management, views and thoughts, NMIMS events, or any class events will make this blog a success.
Happy Blogging.
And
Wish you a very Happy Diwali and a Prosperous New Year.
